Hello again,
Well it seems even with a wrecked city, the guys are still looking to have a good time, maybe to just take their minds off it all for a while?
Seems like the best option, if you can, is to try and go about your life as normal as possible, even though the reality is about as far as you can get from it.
Switching topics! Are you in the Auckland area? Would you like to come meet me? Talk to me? Buy some comics from me? Of course you would! Well this weekend I’ll be at Auckland Zinefest. Selling some comics, and ready to talk to anyone who comes by the half table I’ve been assigned. If you’re in the area, please come by. It’s a really fun event. Details about the comics I’ll be selling can be found here, and the details about the Zinefest are here.
Hopefully I will see you there on Saturday!
Thanks for reading,
Marc
Hello again,
During this trying time in Christchurch, people are making some tough decisions. The primary one, is of course, whether or not they can deal with continuing to live in the city. A lot of people are leaving and every reason for doing so is a legitimate one. However, a lot of people are also choosing to stay, and rough it out. It’s a personal choice. Knowing this, I knew I had to get to this page immediately after establishing damaged Christchurch into Adam’s world, so we knew where he stood. It was always going to end up like this, but it’s still important to know why.
Hope your week is going well. I’ve been extraordinarily busy this week. It’s been crazy. I’m not complaining though. That’s a good thing.
Thanks for reading,
Marc
Welcome to Chapter 6.
Well, this isn’t the usual kind of comic that I put up. In fact this is about as far away from the tone of the comic as it gets. When I started making this comic it was truly a love letter to Christchurch, and the time I spent there. I always wanted the comic to be a celebration of those good times, so I based the story all around those times and the city that gave so much to me.
Never in my imagination did I think I’d be incorporating or documenting my characters through a natural disaster, but then February 22 changed a lot of things for a lot of people. I’m going to put what I can into the story as I see fit, and the characters will be along for the ride as Christchurch builds itself back up again.
As always, thanks for reading!
Marc
Hey everyone,
What a rough week it’s been. Unless you’ve been under a rock, I’m sure you would have heard by now that the city of Christchurch has been leveled by another massive earthquake. This time there was loss of life and horrible devastation to a city that is my home away from home. I’m going to hit a blog up, probably tomorrow about it all.
In the meantime, if you have enjoyed this comic – which takes place in Christchurch, and can spare some cash for a good cause. You can donate either to the Salvation Army New Zealand, or to the Red Cross New Zealand.
I know I’ll be sending as much as I can for as long as I can to try and help get the city back on it’s feet. I’m sure everyone in Christchurch will appreciate it. My thoughts are with them as they endure this horrible tragedy.
Thanks for reading,
Marc
Hi everyone!
It’s been a busy week. The comic is a little later than normal. I spent a day in Christchurch over the weekend, which took away some of my drawing time. It was awesome to go down though. I was able to enjoy a blazing hot day, take in the sights of the city. Assess the earthquake damage with my own eyes. It’s surreal to see all these gaps where buildings used to be. I think the city has an amazing opportunity to now rebuild and do some unique things with design and architecture.
Also got time to check out the Ron Mueck Exhibition at the Christchurch Art Gallery. It was amazing! If you are going to be in Christchurch any time from now through to January I recommend you check it out. It’s well worth it. I’ll blog about it down the line a little bit.
Also worth mentioning that the “lil’ Adam” in the last panel was inspired by this piece by Celina Hernandez.
Hope your weekend was enjoyable as well!
Thanks for reading,
Marc
Hello all,
So this is the guest comic I promised last week. My friend Matt kindly contributed so I could have a break for a week and get back into the drawing when I came back from Australia.
What a fantastic job he has done! I was stoked when I saw this in my inbox. Thanks so much Matt. Please go visit Matt’s website and check out his artwork there.
Unfortunately, I came home, and my house had been burgled. The computers, TV – all gone. It’s a frustrating and terrible position to find yourself in. I now have no way of drawing or uploading my comics. Thank god for Matt’s comic this week. I’ll try and get a couple more guest comics lined up until I get on my feet, and can start drawing my own comics again. It’s a real pain in the ass. Hopefully I get my stuff replaced soon, and I can get back to doing what I love, which is making comics.
I’ll do a blog post later in the week about Christchurch. The city the comic is set in. I might even have a comic to contribute around the devastating event that happened there.
Hope you enjoy this guest comic by Matt!
Thanks for reading
Marc
