Thanks for being patient while I got this comic finished. I hope the extra effort I have put into these last few comics is being noticed. I guess Adam deals with life in ways that makes sense to him, huh? These Sunglasses must give him a false sense of security or something?
How was the weekend?
As always, thanks for reading,
Marc
Okay, so I am sorry for taking so long to get this comic up. I wanted to give it more effort than I usually would, not just to make it look nice, but also because it is the 100th page I have uploaded since I started uploading these comics in the online format. It’s a nice milestone to reach, here’s to the next 100 updates!
A couple of Saturdays ago now, I awoke to the sad news that Adam Yauch (MCA of the Beastie Boys) had passed away. It really hit me hard, and it was hard to sort of come to grips with. The Beastie Boys have been not just a great soundtrack to my life, but a great influence over what I do artistically. Their humour and outlook always inspired. It’s fair to say that if there is ever a song in my head I use continuously for Adam it would be “Hey Ladies” from Paul’s Boutique. I was lucky enough to see the Beastie Boys in 2005, and I got a great shot of MCA that I thought I would share.
Also, you might notice I have implemented Disqus for the comments on the site now. This is to make it easier for people to comment on the site. Now if you wish, you can comment with a Twitter or Facebook account as a profile. Neat, huh?
Thanks for reading,
Marc
Hey everyone!
Crazy week. I’ve been trying to get back on track. Zinefest wiped me out, and then right after I had a good friends going away party. I was pretty tired, and the result of that was starting on the comic a day later than I was expecting. Hopefully you are enjoying the story though.
Zinefest was really great. I posted up my thoughts about it here. I’m now officially selling the comics I made for the event online. Go hit that store button above the comic if you’d like one!
Hope your week has been a good one.
Thanks for reading,
Marc
Today’s comic took a while to finish up. If you’ve been waiting for it, I apologise for the delay and hope you enjoy it. This one was actually based on a factual event. My friends Richard, Matt, Adam and I all went to a party and conversation always seems to start with talk about geographical location when you have a couple of guys from North America with you. Eventually there was some mild ribbing about Canada vs the USA, and without missing a beat Adam just calmly responds “It’s just great to be around all you Aussies”. Oh man, it was perfectly timed, and a well executed burn/response. I laughed pretty good with that one. Well done, sir. Now everyone can enjoy it – immortalised in comic form.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a wedding of good friends of ours. However it was a terrible day weather wise and it was supposed to be a beach wedding. The whole drive there it was just pouring rain. Fortunately as we decended upon the beach everything cleared right up. It was great. We had the lovely intimate ceremony on the beach. The waves crashing in the background. Very appropriate as the bride and groom both lived out there, and the groom is a surfer.
No sooner had photos been taken and people were making their way back to the reception in their vehicles, it started raining again. The break in the weather was absolutely timed to perfection. Couldn’t have been better. It was good times all around.
Then a couple of days ago this happened not so far away from my house. Kinda crazy right?
Hope everyone else has had a good week.
Marc
