Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the Cold comic. That has finished up now. I’m now working on the follow up, made for the web purpose story line. Which should be making its debut some time in the new year. I’m just going to build a bit of a buffer up before I start putting them up. I’m excited for people to see it though, as it will be in full colour! Not only something new to look at, but a new challenge for me. The digital process is making it easier to turn a page out faster. Probably 4 times faster than what I would have if I were doing everything in pencil. That is amazing isn’t it? I’ll give you a release date on the webcomic series some time soon hopefully.
This week was an interesting one. Last Saturday I was out with a group of guys on a stag party for my friend Leo. At the tail end of the evening we were moving from one drinking establishment to another and on the way I lost my footing as I transferred from the pavement to the street to avoid some people. I basically caught my foot in a pothole of some sort and twisted it and landed on my ass. It was very painful, but like the idiot I am, instead of calling it quits I limped on to the next bar and hung out for a while before eventually resigning for the evening. The next morning I was barely able to walk. We went down to the emergency clinic and I had an X-ray. Thankfully nothing was broken. It was just a bad sprain. A few days on crutches and icing the foot would eventually help it calm down, though it is still sore and swollen. Looks like it will be a while before that bruising will go down.
The wedding went down on Wednesday. It was awesome. Everyone had a great time. All the best to my man Leo and his new bride Suriya.
Otherwise, finally got to seeing Avatar yesterday. Everyone is right, that is quite the visual spectacle. Some of the concepts with the creatures on that planet was cool. The colours were nice and trippy too! Ha ha!
Anyway, I had better get on with my Christmas day. Wishing you and yours all the best.

Just dropped off the custom cover to the guy who purchased it off me. It was really cool catching up with him. Plus he worked in the city, and I rarely visit inner Auckland these days. Looking around there were some changes. Including a whole new skyscraper that apparently came out of nowhere? I should have taken a photo of it, now that I am mentioning it. Sorry for my spectacular fail there!
In any case. Now that he has it, I can post the progression of how the custom cover came together. Obviously I was selling something physical, so I went old school on this one. Pencils, inks, and the colour markers to finish it off. The “Hey Ladies” is really me just thinking that, if Adam were to have a song that would represent him “Hey Ladies” by the Beastie Boys always comes to mind. It’s such a good banging track.
Now I’m back in the house. I have a cold Mac’s Gold beer in hand. The weekend has begun.
Fuck yeah.

Purchasing excellent art + update to the store!

I’ve been buying a lot of art lately. It’s not really been planned, but I just keep seeing some cool art being released, so I purchase it. Having recently moved into a new place, the dilemma now is. ..where do I now put all this art? Do I have enough room on my walls to even get it all up? It’s a good problem to have though, I’ll admit. I guess even if there wasn’t enough room for all this art, I could rotate pieces around to keep the walls interesting. Instead of messing with the furniture arrangements I can switch art pieces in and out. If I had the time, I’d look into a framing workshop of some sort too, as the framing of all these pieces is costing a pretty penny! Ha ha!
So would you like to see some of the recent bounty?
Well, I was able to pick up one of these cool Paul Pope prints. It’s a 2 colour screen print. I love the way that Paul can convey movement and energy with his art. The dude is a master, so when I saw this print for sale. I knew it would be an affordable way of getting some of his work on my wall.
I got this rad 5 colour screenprint called “Stormfront” by Jim Houser for my wife. Jim Houser paints some of the coolest art you’ll see. His palate of softer colours is always pleasing on the eyes and I was able to secure one of these prints, which was very exciting. Both for myself, but particularly for my wife, who adores his artwork. This screen print was of amazing quality, and had a embossing seal on the paper, and the paper was archival Cotton Paper. It was very well put together. Also recommended, Jim has a book of his work out called “Babel“. Which you can get through Amazon.
Finally, my friend Podgypanda stopped by on Saturday night. I managed to get one of these bad boys off him. A wooden laser print. The detail is immense! Because its wood, it just makes his art even more interesting because it is something different. Looking forward to picking out a spot and having this piece representing up on the wall somewhere soon as well.
I’m adding a couple of new* (*variations) items to my store tonight. You’ll be able to now find a new colour way of the Knuckles Tee. Which is Black on white. The other item is the Custom Cover version of the comic. It’s the same as the regular cover, but for a few bucks extra I’ll draw you a one off cover of Adam on the front. Great ideas for Christmas maybe? Ha ha!
New updates will be hitting the store sporadically. Including some new tee shirt designs, and prints. Keep an eye on the blog here, and I’ll let you know when they drop.
