Favouritism

Here you go, a new comic!

What a fast weekend that was. Auckland had a very fast reprieve from the rain on Saturday only for it to eventually come back. It was nice to see our old friend the Sun. He was missed, and he left far too soon for most peoples liking.

Managed to finally get around to seeing “Up” by Pixar this weekend. As I’m only a year late to this party most people have probably seen this film. I really enjoyed it. It was very cool, in that heartfelt, “awwwwww” kind of way. It’s amazing that even an animated film about an old man can be awesome.

Thanks for reading,

Know Your Enemy

Hey all,

Seems like there could be some beef between Greg and Adam perhaps?

This weekend went by spectacularly fast. It seems like I was just at the pub on Friday night, and now here I am back into the working week. Bummer.

I spent some time trying to get some extra art done. Though I don’t know why I bothered. It seemed like every line I put down I hated. That can be frustrating when it just doesn’t work for you for whatever reason.

I also caught up with my friend Podgypanda on Saturday night, and was introduced to his friend Fi. Podgy’s artwork is growing in leaps and bounds. His new stuff is unreal. You wait until he unleashes it on this world! We hung out, and made observations about K road while sitting in a coffee shop on said road.

There was also a lot of rain. Hope everything is awesome in your world.

Thanks for reading!

Guesting on a webcomic and a review!

Sometimes people can be incredibly cool.

This week has been a good one. A couple of weeks ago, Dan, from Sassy Fortnight informed me he wanted a break from his comic for a week and asked me to draw a page for him so he would have something to run during this week. If you haven’t been over to Sassy Fortnight  yet, go have a look. It’s a really cute and fun comic which has Dinosaurs and a Robot in it. What more do you need from the Internet?

Having never done a guest comic before, I was very aware that by saying “yes” I knew had to come up with the goods – a comic that would hopefully be fun for the creator, but also their readers. Not to mention you’re dealing with their own characters. It’s a unique situation. I know I can do anything with my characters at any time, but playing with someone else’s, and getting one page to tell a story you hope people will like – it’s intimidating. Dan is a really nice dude though, and wanting to lend a helping hand I asked for the deadline, and then worked it into my schedule.

After about 5 hours I had the finished product done. It went live this week – so please, go and check it out, and let me know if you liked it! Thankfully Dan did like it, and had some nice things to say about my own comic in the process. Cheers, dude!

The other nice thing to happen this week was a very kind review of my first comic by Robin Hotter. Robin is another New Zealand based artist, and he contributes his own awesome comic called Rally Mark to DMC Comics, an Anthology series (to which I have contributed to) run here in New Zealand.

Robin’s review was really cool, and totally made my day. Go have a read if you feel so inclined!

Hope the week has treated you just as well,

Thanks for reading!

Holding The Fort

Hello again,

How did the weekend treat you? Mine turned out to be unexpectedly expensive. Just some unforseen costs popping up for some reason – all on the same weekend? That’s weird and not so much fun.

It wasn’t all bad though. Just unexpected.

Weekend was quite cool. I caught up with my Mum being Mother’s Day and all that. The best thing about visiting your Mother is getting a home meal. I took the beer, but the meal was supplied and it was good!

Other than that it was just a weekend of catching up on some stuff seeing as I was down south last weekend.

Hope it treated you well!

Timing Is Everything

Hello all,

Well we’ve finally made it to Adam’s place of work! Awesome. This location is based on a real place in the Arts Centre in Christchurch. Those Gothic buildings are a pain to draw. Fortunately I was in Christchurch this past weekend taking a bunch of reference photos to help myself get those details as accurate as I can.

Also this weekend we had Iron Man 2. Which was fun, but not amazing. Just an enjoyable flick. Which is all you can ask for I guess. You know who sucks though? Those people that sat behind me and proceeded to talk throughout the entire film. Thanks for ruining my experience.

Saturday was Free Comic book day. I hope you got down to your local retailer and picked up some comics!

Thanks for reading
Marc
